Woven Basketry

Burden baskets are utilized by a multitude of cultures around the world. Ngabes use them chiefly for carrying foodstuffs harvested from theirĀ fincas, or farms. In the case of these woven baskets, the burden is placed on one’s shoulders. Depending on the size of the basket, it can take an artisan a week to a few months to make. They are made by weaving strips of fibrous bark together. I personally do not have one, but I enjoy using the baskets of my neighbors.
