Calabasa Bowls

As I walked along the pathways of Renacimiento, I came upon a calabasa tree. At first I did not know what these round, green, heavy ┬┤fruits┬┤were. The children showed me how to pick them off the tree, cut them in half, scrape out the innards (which are not edible), and create beautiful vessels from them. They can be utilized as bowls, cups, and shower bucket scoopers. One can create mystical designs using a knife or scribe. I enjoy using my calabasa bowls to hold pretty seashells and conchs I found while snorkeling/fishing in Valle Escondido with Katie! I utilize another calabasa bowl to place on top of my shower soap, so as to not become goo after the heavy rains. Let me know what you use your calabasa bowls for!
